SUBMISSION DATE: 15 FEBRUARY 2002 (Closed)

Attention Authors: Please follow the author guidelines provided on this website, with special emphasis on paper length limits. Thank you.

The convergence between telecommunications, information technology, and more conventional electronic products such as radio/TV presents a major opportunity for the development of international products.

The IWIPS workshop series aims to promote awareness of the problems facing international industry, and their implications for research and development. In addition to the presentation of papers and case studies, as well as the availability of tutorials, the workshop provides a venue for meetings, discussion of results and cooperation at an international level. The Workshop is organized to maximize the exchange of information and ideas among a delegation from across the globe. Participants will leave with more knowledge and skills in the area of product and software internationalisation, and a network of colleagues who are focused on the issues that globalisation creates for the design and production of products and systems.

The conference theme is "Globalisation - Ahead of the Curve". We encourage those of you who may be able to share your "leading edge" experiences with technology as it pertains to global commerce and security. What are the practices and focus for launching this new technology?

We invite submissions on, but not limited to, the following topics.
  • Frameworks and methodologies for international product development
  • Information presentation and social interaction
  • User interface internationalisation
  • Web internationalisation
  • Theory, methods, and assessment techniques for product and system evaluation
  • Process models and methods of development
  • Case studies: Experience of developing and applying internationalisation in industry
  • Skills and support tools for globalisation development
  • Policies, strategies and trends in globalisation and design
  • Intercultural issues in design

Papers should describe the problem addressed and the nature of the contribution. (e.g., theory, method, exemplars, tools, experience).

All submissions will be electronic. They are to be sent in .RTF format, zipped, as attachments to e-mail, addressed to Donald Day (donald_l_day@hotmail.com), with the subject line "IWIPS2002 Submission".

Papers should be transmitted no later than 15 February 2002.

The Local Organizing Committee Chairs of IWIPS 2002 are Brenda Hall (brenda.hall@austintest.com 512.818.4490 and Deborah Webb (dwebb@vignette.com 512.657.7681).
