Title:

Thinking Differently, Acting Together: A Treatise on Technology Acceptance in the Era of Internationalization

Author:

Day, D.L.

Abstract:

Since technology emerged from the Middle Ages, it has alternatively been deemed the savior of mankind and the agent of its demise. This conflicting assessment is hinted at in two starkly varying definitions of the term from the old standard, the English language dictionary. Careful examination of these two meanings of “technology” reveals the core of a serious problem confronting cultures around the world as we enter the brave new world of the 21st Century. That problem is the fit of technologies to the cultures in which they are to be used, and the considerable cost when that fit is not what it might be. The critical difference lies in the customs and morays of the culture in which the technology is used.
