The Event

Academics, researchers, product developers, human factors specialists, and HCI specialists with an interest in internationalization, and localization issues are kindly invited to attend the 1st International Workshop on Internationalization of Products and Systems. The goal for this workshop is to provide an open forum for individuals interested in a wide variety of internationalization issues encountered when designing and developing international products and systems.

The Workshop will provide a mix of invited talks, refereed papers, a panel discussion and an industrial exhibition of successful international products. Each day of the two-day workshop will begin with a plenary paper, which addresses the overall issues of internationalization, and the problems faced by those who are responsible for the design and development of international products. The day will continue with refereed papers on more specific topics. Between paper sessions attendees will have an opportunity to see videos, technology, and products that address some of the issues being discussed at the workshop.

The social agenda will also provide attendees with an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and knowledge. In order to make attending the workshop easier for those who live outside of the USA, it is scheduled directly after the CHI'99 Conference in Pittsburgh. We hope this will make it easier to attend for those people traveling from overseas.
